What's Happenin' in Minneapolis (Janessa Reese)

It has been great to read what a few of you have been experiencing this summer! Our adventure this summer is in the Twin Cities. Jeremy has been enjoying his finance internship with General Mills this summer. As for me, like many of you, after a long semester and one too many sick, pregnant days, it has been great to get out and explore Minneapolis.
Flying over the Rockies. Jeremy drove all our stuff and I flew with our 6 week old and 2 year old girls. Sounds rough but the flight went fairly smoothly.
Jeremy's division at General Mills had a year end carnival that we went to. Kayla wasn't so sure she liked Sprout; you know, the Green Giants son, of course.
So, we can't help but feel like we are on a really long vacation. The girls and I go swimming a couple times a week. It is great to just hang out by the pool for awhile like you don't have a care in the world.

As Julia Moss mentioned in her post, there are a few intern families in Minneapolis from BYU and one from Harvard that we enjoy doing things with this summer. We enjoyed the Fourth of July by going on a road trip to Duluth with the Moss's. What a cute family!

Duluth is right on Lake Superior, which is so big it needs lighthouses!

We going to a park with Denise and Matheus a couple times a week too.

One of the highlights of the summer was going with the other finance interns to a Twins game in the GMI suite. The cityscape was a really neat back drop to the game. I'm not sure what was better though, our seats, or having a night out kid free.

There is literally a lake and/or park on every corner here. We have enjoyed going on walks around many of the lakes in the evenings and going to play days at the parks and swimming beaches during the days.

Being from the West, we are not very experienced with severe weather. When the tornado sirens went off we didn't even know what they were! We survived and got some neat footage of the lightening after. (It is too dark to see the crazy wind and pouring rain.)

Next up: The Mall of America (again), trying out some more amazing Farmer's Markets, more free zoo trips, Green Bay, WI to visit my cousin, and everything/anything we can fit in before we head back to "real life".
